I am more than aware that there are laid down frequencies for such inspections eg LOLER 12 months or 6 months for people moving gear, Annual for gas appliances etc etc - but I am interested to hear colleagues views on how flexible these frequencies can be. For example can an annual gas safety check reasonably be temporarily postponed and if so under what circumstances. I have my own firm views but would be very interested in the opinions of others.

Personally you would have to have a very valid reason for such postponement and what you are doing to ensure the plant etc is to be inspected within a given time frame.

The only occasion I have come across really is if there is downtime or the plant/equipment is actually not in use.

If not then possible consequences and serious questions may be asked as to how and why this was managed in this way!

Thanks MB1 - this issue has now been satisfactorily resolved.
