Looking to get some opinions on my next career move. I have a long term goal to be a self employed H&S consultant and would appreciate your views on the next step you would suggest in terms of industry sector, role type. I am currently CMIOSH and working as a HSEQ Manager for a facilities management service provider. I have experience of H&S application in an NHS setting and would like to understand in respect of the long term goal if i should broaden my employment experience further into other industry sectors such as construction, manufacturing etc.... In your experience is it an advantage to have worked across industries prior to consultancy roles or should I look for an employed consultancy role within a company to gain a experience that way? Any comments please

I'd sit very tight for at least the next 9 months as the job situation is going to to get much worse IMHO.

A scawny scruffy bird in the hand is worth several in bushes.

Already jobs that would command a salary of £35k three years ago are now on offer for £25K
Its a buyers market.
As an employee your current rights are very valuable

Having said that, there's nowt wrong with polishing up the gaps in your CV whilst you are waiting

Maybe set up as a sole trader and try and do jobs on the weekend/evening until you have enough contacts to make the leap.
