I wonder if anyone can assist. I have a plant room located on the top floor of a building, with access through the hatch via a ladder upwards. There is also a call point situated that requires testing via the weekly system. I am not satisfied that staff can go up safely and have recommended alterations, which have not been taken on board.
Does anyone have a suitable RA for access to a plant room etc that could help assist in making these recommendations
Cheers
Mike

Why do you need to test the call point weekly.
Due to a couple of incidents caused by people entering plantrooms who could be deemed as not compitent, we have locked down all these areas. Entry can only be gained by a compitent person or a compitent person escorting visitors.

Hmm..........I don't have such a Risk Assessment. But if I did, I think it would conclude that a ladder and hatch is not sufficient access or egress for routine maintenance etc. in a plant room. really depends on the plant and the nature and frequency of maintenance required though.
Second question might be (dependent on answers to above) do you actually require a call point up there?
