Good morning everyone, I have a client that stores new car batteries and flammable liquids/aerosols in bulk (multiple pallets in a warehouse). Can anyone remind me of the maximum amounts of flammables permitted in one location under DSEAR? Also does DSEAR cover car batteries, or is this product come under different legislation? Many thanks in advance for your help. Cheers DHM

The BAMA have a guide to warehouse storage of aerosols. http://www.bama.co.uk/ If you store the aerosols correctly the area need not be classified under DSEAR. As for batteries, they would not come under DSEAR at all, as they are not flammable. There would be environmental considerations with the storage of these. What plans are in place should the be damage resulting in a spillage. Hope this helps.

Car / lead acid batteries would only come under DSEAR when they are being charged. Hydrogen gas is then given off. This is not the case in the situation, you have described.

Hi DHM, Also try INDG139 for storing batteries.

There is also the issue of ADR, if your customer is also transporting these goods.
