Good Morning all, We are in the process of reviewing our road transport policies and the following thought crossed my mind - should we be providing a medical for our drivers (we have a 4 vans, not HGV or Tachographed)? Bearing in mind the gravity of Corporate Mansluaghter and how this would include the company liabilities for drivers going about their tasks. Please let me know your thoughts. regards Will

Hi Will, There is no legal requirement for drivers of vans to undergo a medical, as with all other drivers they must complete a medical questionnaire when applying for, or renewing a licence, also they have an obligation to disclose any changes to their health that may affect driving. I would not go down the very expensive route of providing medicals. You could get them to complete a periodic signed medical quastionnaire if you feel that you need to ensure the medical fitness to drive, many large organisations do this.
