I have just moved to a different department within my organisation and have been asked to start a course of training and re-traing on risk assessment. As it is some time since I have given this training I am hoping that somebody can recommend a good training package that I can purchase. The training packages have moved on since I last bought one.

Tony,

Can I make a suggestion, why not develop your own training package on powerpoint with supporting handouts etc.

If you write it yourself with a bias on your own organisation's activities and processes then it may help you deliver it to greater effect and get a better audience response.

I have found over the years that developing my own training materials for risk assessment, accident investigation, ISO14001 etc have meant that I can relate better to the material when delivering it and the delegates get a better grasp of what I am trying to tell them.

Just a thought!!!

Regards,

Paul

Tony,

have a look at this programme on our website,(it is free).

http://www.confinedspaces.com/oac/index.htm

It is based on the concept that you analyse and control the operation and takes viewers step by step through the process. It has certain advantages over risk management in that when worked properly, a controlled operation totally eliminates risk.

Let me know if it meets your needs,

Regards, Philip

Tony,

Try the IOSH packages,(Working Safely, Managing Safely etc., most say something in varying degrees that you can taylor to your needs.

You really need to look at your procedures though to ensure the course produces the appropriate results.

We use the CIEH package which gives a good basic grounding with the chance of an external qualification. In addition we offer training in more specialised areas such as M/H -DSE & COSHH.

Although purely inhouse courses are good, people do sit up more if there is chance of getting a recognised certificate.

Tony,

RoSPA do a one-day course on risk assessment.

If you're looking for presentations, have a look at www.web-safety.com

There are a couple of RA presentations on there in the safety exchange including one of mine, and one of Paul Craythornes (I think).

Regards,

Nick
