Posted By Peter Wright What (if any) legislation / guidance do I need to adher to/be aware of if I want to arrange a bonfire for the local school. Is it a legal requirement to have an ambulance on site ??? that is what I have been told any assistance would be helpful. (I am aware of the pending firefighters strike) thanks

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Peter There is HSE guidance on fireworks (both for professional and amateur pyrotechnicians) but I can't remember the details. I am sure that searching the HSE site will turn something up for you. Paul

Posted By Ken Taylor If it's part of a firework display you will need HSG123 from the HSE. If it's a public event you should also consult the Events Safety Guide (I cannot remember the number of this and I'm not in the office until Tuesday). You will need first-aid cover based upon the guidance contained in this publication (as well as a safety plan, emergency plan, risk assessments, fire-fighting provision, stewards, etc). I doubt whether the presence of an ambulance would be required if you can have qualified first-aiders present and the location is not remote from the emergency services.

Posted By Ken Taylor PS. The Events Safety Guide is HSG195 (often referred to as 'The Blue Book').
