My company has booked me in for this course later on this year. I was just wondering if anyone has been on this course before and could let me know what it's like and if there is anything worth reading up/ making myself familiar with before the course starts.

Unlikely anyone on here will refer to it as a crock of sheep however I think it really depends on who is presenting it; may I enquire the cost?

No idea I'm afraid, I work for a pretty big company and that sort of thing is way above me at the moment. No doubt I would find out if I handed my notice in.

It is a good *basic* grounding course, and as such needs no prep work.

It quite an intesive course normally 4 days and touches basically on how to manage safety from a 'managers' point of view, there is a smally exam at the end and I feel this is a very useful course to give managers an insight into safety management of said.

I'm an Asbestos Consultant with on site project management responsibilities. A general H&S cover all course to add to my Asbestos knowledge sounds really good.

I started my career in Health and Safety with this course and found it a great stepping stone to more intense courses like the Nebosh General Certificate.

Hi Stephen
I actually present the MS course, normally on a client in-house basis and I'm always very conscious that others in the client organisation may well have attended the same course with varying recollections of its value, relevance and presenter.
I believe that the real value is all in the manner & skill of the presenter as a "presenter"; coupled with a sufficiently extensive H,S,E & F competence to be able to focus the fairly rigid course syllabus to the activities of the client at the best level for the attendees.
Done properly, it's an excellent course that provides a surprisingly wide range of information and understanding for the attendees; but please remember it's NOT an H&S qualification - it's a qualification designed to "round-out" the existing supervisory and managerial skills and give a foundation to enable them to be applied to the management of H&S at that level.
