I was giving some flooring/anti-slip advice to a butcher yesterday. He told me he'd heard a rumour that the HSE were going to ban sawdust on the floors. Anyone heard this before ??

This reminds me of something about using vacuum cleaners to remove sawdust instead of brooms. It was prompted by an 'elf n'safety'rant abot HSE banning brooms. Point was timber particles containing carcinogens. I guess that the risk is similar anywherethat sawdust is found in significant quantities but I'm glad to say its not something I come across.

You mean you still have butchers using saw dust on the floor? I thought the practice of selling freshly killed meat was a thing of the past. Anything like saw dust on the floor is now seen as serious slipping hazard so is not done anymore. Propoer absorbant material is now used to clean up spills etc. I suppose you will be telling us that animals are killed out the back next.
