Dear all, Good Day In reference with the subject, i would like to invite your opinion on emergency rescue plan at construction site for the following inputs (in reference with Health & Safety), - Is it required to be done by main contractor or subcontractor, specially when all resources are with main contractor?
- As a thumb rule, what is being practiced in general?
- Legally who is responsible, in case if something goes wrong at site and sufficient precautionary measures were not taken to dispose off the negative impact.
Appreciate your response.
Regards,

The Principle contractor is responsible emergency response for the site.
Sub contractors responsible for emergency reponse to their activity i.e from a MEWP etc

1. Principal Contractor (UK) is responsible for site safety and should have arrangements in place for emergencies.
2. It very much depends on the size and risks associated with a construction project. A simple evacuation procedure to a full blown emergency response strategy. Emergency arrangements should not rely solely on the emergency services attending.
3. Normally the Principal Contractor, but could also be the client if it was on their property depending on the actual circumstances.

I will agree that the ultimate responsibility is that of the PC, which they should communicate to all attending the project at induction. any particularly onerus requirements should be known prior to attending site (£). There may be specific emergency requirements within your operations which will need to align with the PC's arrangements, if there are any anomolies these need to be discussed and resolved with the PC prior to commencing work. Subcontract site managers must ensure those under their control are aware of both their own and the PC's emergency procedures.
Regards
Nick

Sorry I don't but rather than resurrect a thread from 2017 perhaps raise a new topic?
