I see IOSH are promoting these new gloves through their magazine , is it just me but I find the though of these on a construction site frightingly dangerous? We have a set of regonised hand signals but these gloves add in a red stop and green go element which is fair enough, but I know that we often have many contractors on site and there will always but a selection of gloves of all colours so the chance of someone signalling an emergency stop while wearing green gloves opens up a route for disaster or am I being too pesemistic?

Doesn't particularly matter to those who are red/green colour blind - you are looking for the arm position relative to the body not which way round the hand is being held.

Then when you consider the state PPE develops during use, especially on a construction site, not long before they are as dirty as every other pair.

Consider:

Start signal - hands forward arms outstretched these gloves would show red to the signal receiver

Danger signal - hands forward arms raised above head these gloves would show red to the signal receiver

The only way the colours flash strikes me as indicative is the Away from or Towards signals

Think someone has failed to solve a question that wasn't being asked
