Hi everyone, I am trying to find absolute confirmation on reporting. Do we need to notify the HSE about raised levels of Radon gas above 300bq-m3, I have looked through the IRR17 and the HSE's website and can't find any statement telling me to notify them. Thanks in advance guys

It is notifiable.

I'm not so sure, as it says you have to notify them of your work with ionising radiation, Radon Gas is naturally occurring and I'm guessing the original poster will not be working with it

Sorry hate doing this but taken from the HSE guidance.

Details of radon assessments (radon notifications only)

105. If you have selected working in an atmosphere containing radon above an annual concentration of 300 Bq m-3 as a category of your work with ionising radiation, you will be asked a further question. • 300–499 Bq m-3 annual average • 500–699 Bq m-3 annual average

• 700–999 Bq m-3 annual average

• 1000+ Bq m-3 annual average 　

Please provide details of the most recent radon concentration assessment. 106. If multiple assessments have been taken for one site, or taken across multiple sites, you should notify the highest to HSE.

107. You don’t need to notify HSE if your assessment is below 300 Bq m-3 annual average.

Looks clear you need to notify - news to me i thought it was only working with radioation not naturaly occuring radiation - but again one of the examples given is a muesum which may have rocks on display with natural radiation properties. Every days a learning day.
