Good afternoon, I am after a bit of advice. We have a 15t Forklift Truck on site which was damaged a couple of weeks ago . The frame work for a set of cabiles which ran up the mast had been bent, causing it to catch on the hydraulic pipes. This resulted in an external company coming on to site to repair the FLT, the repairs were pretty straight forward and did not modify the design of the FLT. My question is - Does our insurer (same company that fixed it) need to conduct a new LOLER inspection of the FLT? or does the fact that the repair was done by themselves verify that it meets the standards required to pass the LOLER inspection?

Hi Andrew, I would ask the insurer who repaired the FLT.

The damage description doesn't really help as to whether it's a small, decorative bit of damage or a more significant impact. Regardless of who made the repairs, I might reflect on how it would be seen if an incident occurred. Could you provide sound reasoning as to why an inspection was not appropriate and that the current damage/ repair was not a factor in any subsequent failure/ incident. But as said at the start, how big was the original damage.

Does the damage to the FLT affect its load carrying ability / structural integrity or stability?
If so, the repair obviously needs to ensure that this capability is restored/retained.
A competent engineers could advise, if you can't make that decision.

Good morning, Thank you for your responses, I apologise for the ambiguity regarding the work that was done on the FLT, the information received from the engineer was vague 'Straightened out hose bracket and painted'. I think it may be useful contacting the engineer to query whether he believes the repair work means the FLT requires another LOLER inspection.
