Hi all,

Just want to be sure that this is reportable or not, using the HSE document EDIS1(rev3)http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/edis1.pdf Incident reporting in schools.

I am referring to page 3 of the guidance, as the student is a college student that has broken their collar bone whislt out doing a mountain bike riding activity in a forest. The condition of the bike is fine and it has been maintained etc...The learner flipped over the handle bars due to hitting some tree roots.

I am slightly conflicted if it is reportable or not, as the injury did require hospital treatment (obvioulsy) but it was a sport activity.

Any guidance on the interpretation of these statements would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Not reportable due to it being a sporting activity, with all the usual caveats for maintained equipment etc etc.

I agree, not reportable as it was not "work related", I.e. no defects or if it was a younger child, lack of supervision.

That was my interpretation but I was not 100% sure.

Thank you
