Apologies for the fact this isn't specifically related to H&S, but we had a visit from a company who provide our NVQ training and he said that the government were planning to have all senior management and business owners hold an NVQ level 6 by 2023!

a) this seems impracticable

b) unenforecable, and

c) kept very much under the radar.

I was just wondering if this is a misunderstanding of something that has been discussed for LAs and NGOs, or seomthing that will require a lot of very panicky managers to spend on a lot of training.

Regards

Simon

This sounds like the sort of thing companies say when trying to sell you a better mouse trap: the regs have changed and you must buy product X from us and everything you have been doing since year dot is wrong and you will only be complaint if you spend money with us-NOW!

I have heard this in connection with fire extinguishers, first aid boxes and those foil hats that protect you from cosmic rays. All bunk, all a con.

Just ask them what legislation will be used to enforce this new rule. Get specifics; it has to be legislation. It cannot be guidance, standards or cuttings from the Daily Mail but actual legislation.

That usually shuts them up.

Thanks

My thoughts exactly - I have asked for the evidence but it has yet to be provided ;)

If I hear anything one way or the other i will update this post.

My personal favourite is that it is now a legal requirement to have fire safety signs in Braille.
