Hello all, can anyone help please? As I understand it all roller doors need to be double braked so that should one brake fail there is another in place. I have two companies quoting for work to our doors, one is saying that we must be double braked (my understanding also) and the other is saying this is not necessary if the chain etc is secured via lock and pin.
Has anyone got an absolute answer on this please?

Hi ALison, To be honest I think the answer is, it depends! It depends on the design of the existing doors and what anti-fall mechanisms are already in place, if any. If there is no means of fall prevention other than a single brake say on the rise/fall motor, then it is likely for a large shutter a second means will be required. However, without more information it is impossible to tell. It might be that one supplier has more in depth knowledge of your actual doors than the other.
