Good Morning, hope everyone is keeping well,  im looking to put together a building management checklist to re-commision school building prior to opening again after the current closure, basically statutory checks and inspections that must be completed prior to opening.   With the closure some of the usual checks may not have been completed.  Does anyone have a template or list that maybe of use?  Things like water flushing,  emergency lights, machinery inspections.  We have departments such as engineering, technology, hair and beauty, motor vehicle, science as well as our standard offices and classrooms.

1 of my clients is a FM company. There is a document that covers this. I think if you are a BESA member it's free to download. It's called SFG20. Document looks strange as it refers to SFG30 but it's 20 you need.

Sorry, not sure my client would be happy me sending out documents that tey've paid membership fees for. Plus it would be a trust and integrity issue between me and them

It would also almost certainly be a breach of copyright.

Hi Andrew,

I would say (based on the thought process evident in your question) if you put your mind to it you know how to put your own eschedule together here in fairly swift order.

I would suggest you look at some bits in the interim though. With the very mild weather your stood water systems would benefit from flushing now (and each month of the stand down) rather than risk a potential cumulative problem with legionella for which a flushing after 3 months wouldn't be a solution. Right down to individual shower heads in the hair and beauty section etc so might be a few hours work for someone but you can unfurlough someone for a day three weeks apart (I believe) to do such things.

Lifting equipment, compressors and LEV certificates of examination should be checked, may have expired. Hopefully companies who do these inspections will be able to start up before the rest of us!
