Hello Everyone, firstly I hope you are all well!!!

Secondly I work for a charity that has projects covering all different sectors, at the moment we are trying to determine which staff members have NHS letters for 12-weeks isolation, but then, who is classed as clinically vulnerable also.

My question is, if an employee has recieved an NHS letter stating that they must self isolate for 12 weeks, but, express that they wish to come into work, can we allow them to?

If they do not inform you they were the recipient of such a communication where/how would you check? You need express consent to access medical records. We have not to my knowledge imprisoned the sick or elderly. The 12 weeks itself is a farce given the letter arrived four weeks after Mrs R self isolated and two weeks later for her parents but stated from the date of the letter.

despite the previous comment...we ran around to inform the vulnerable high risk patients face to face before any letter came out...you need consent to access the records...however for your pice of mind I would explicitly ask the question and record thier answer...you can only ask and then still follow the social distancing rules...

and like an MOT any answer you receive is only valid upon the date of questioning - we are all aware items DO go missing in the post so the interviewee may be wholly unaware of its despatch

....what really gets my goat is when myself and my collegues are running around exhausted from dealing with the pressure of keeping self and patients safe...and people who are sat behind a keyboard and a screen with thier thumb doing thier own rectal examination doing abosultely nothing!
