We have three clips which are fitted into a larger part. Clip 1 has a tool on trial but our initial analysis is that despite job rotation there will still be wrist strain with the tool. These are not processes we can automate. Does anyone have any experience with sourcing an ergonomic hand tool for something like this?

A more detailed description may illicit a response - we cannot see what you are looking at through the forum. e.g. are you decribing clips on a pipe? spring clips that hold the lid on a vehicles air filter? circlips that locate a rod?

The word count is too high for me to post a photo and the upload new file button does nothing - I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong! I'll try and describe the clips. The clips are all to attach to interior car fittings - a harness clip, sun visor clip and roof clip. They are essentially rectangular clips with shaped edges if that makes sense which click into place

Be careful what you ask for! A purist may say that if fitting the clip in this manner is going to cause an injury, then find a different means of securing the item or change the fitting method. would it be right to visualise something like circlip pliers that have to open the clip's jaws? Could you get an air/powered set of pliers preset to open to the correct extent?

So car parts, so perhaps get onto a car maker? I know it's a long shot, contact Honda near Swindon (?) maybe somebody could give you a visit to see how they do it?

Honda at Swindon will be in a grumpy mood as they are sadly closing down.

It's been passed back to engineering to put forward some ideas / solutions as they came up with the tool being used currently

How many manufacturers offer a factory visit? Before they closed I went and did a tour of the old Defender production line. At it's demise it was still largely built by hand by brummies wielding hammers of various sizes. You chat to the blokes on the line and see what they were doing.
