Hi, Could anyone recommend any efficient ways of carrying out workplace inspections etc such as apps etc that are not too expensive. I currently take photos of H&S issues and upload to a Word document and then forward a report to the relevant people for action which is obviously very time consuming. Thank you.

Start not from the app but who are the recipients, who actually needs to know, what do they do with the information (if anything), and how they currently access it.

Word is readily accessible, save as a pdf and it becomes even more universal.

Then consider what technology they all possess before deciding to pursue an "app" e.g. if no one has a smartphone or the app is limited to one or two operating systems will it work for all users?

Personally, I also use Word and have found it to be effective. With a mobile device (such as a tablet) there is no need to take pictures and upload them separately.

They can be immediately and automatically inserted into the actual document.

If you are using Word, have you by now got a template of format that you tweak as a for each audit which saves time and photos can be easily drag drop. If the same / similar format is not used, then an app wouldn’t help either. I’ve seen pre-set audits with all the options for each item and a f Bit of free text space, so it can be a casual of delete rather than insert.
