Hi,

I'd be interested to know how others are controlling access during the pandemic with regards to visitors/customers. I work in haulage and warehousing and have limited entry to our offices and warehouses to essential visits only. I have deemed essential visitors to be those required for regulation or to maintain machinery for the safe operation of the business. Clients are now pushing to gain entry for stocktakes etc.

All guidelines are being followed with regard to social distancing and sanitiser and the like. I'd like to know what the general consensus is with permitting access to visitors.

regards,

Kate

We allow any visitors who have a valid purpose for visiting that may benefit our business.  We do however discourage timewasting visitors :-)

...we do the same as kate .  with any audit or check that is likley to last longer than 1 day, we expect health forms to be submitted along with scope minimum 3 days prior to the start and febrile temperature checks taken on arrival (not surface temperature, we have full time OH) along with second screening form...anyone showing symptopms (audit lead or not) is excluded

Essential visitors only. Any stock taking is done by ourselves with video evidence on behalf of the customer. No "factory tours" currently either.

All of my clients have adopted my advice, any vistor must be business critical. If it's not going to benefit the company then they don't come in.

It's a great way of stopping the cold calling salesmen.

We do have another method, the MD uses his middle name in day to day life. But the amount of companys calling and saying they have a meeting with him and use his first name is astounding. They even argue the toss when you say they haven't, my wife is his PA. I don't know anyone who uses his first name, even his wife usaes his middle name.
