A delivery driver employed by Compny X was unloading a truck on our site. During the activity he was injured by something one of our of employees did during the unloading process (not a "specified injury"). He declined to be taken to the local hospital and waited for a colleague to arrive to take him to his home town. It later transpired he suffered some ligament damage. Informtion has not come through yet on whether he went straight to hospital in his local town for treatment or if he went home first and then went to his GP. 

If he went to straight t hospital for treatment would we need to report it as a RIDDOR or his employer?

If he didnt go straight to hospital but subsequently was off work for more than 7 days would hid employer need to report this?

Going straight to hospital can only make something RIDDOR reportable if they were not at work (they were a member of the public).  So not relevant here as the injured person was working at the time.(

If they are off/unfit for more than 7 days this is for their employer to report.

Obviously the incident is primarily for you to investigate.

Thanks Kate I realised after hit send that only specified injuries are reportable when going to hospital in this situation
