Hi all, I've been asked to do a moffett lifting plan for a customers' site. Never done one before and don't know where to start; please can someone offer some advice on doing so? Also, my understanding was that if the site that is being unloaded doesn't belong to us, shouldnt it be the responsibility of the site themselves to undertake that lifting plan? Thanks.

Sorry to say this Svick but sounds like you either need to get some training or employ someone who is compitent in this area - no way can you get sufficent advice from this forum.
Its the person/company doing the lift that needs to do the plan. If a site is having something delivered you cannot expect them to have the expertease.

Isn't a moffett the truck with an FLT hanging from the rear?
So a lift plan to off-load is typically the reverse of loading. A trained moffett operator is doing this day in / day out. Why is a specific lifting plan required - has someone confused moffett with HIAB (the flat bed with outriggers and a lifting arm)?
Again a trained HIAB operator is doing this day in / day out

This is what I thought; it's just a moffett operator (and yes you're right, it's a minature FLT that sits on the back of HGV's) unloading a truck, just as FLT operator would do. I myself was confused as to why it was necessary to have a lifting plan. All our operators are trained and refreshed in-line with ACOP guidance and they have ID badges that they can show to customers on site.
