Morning All,

I am on the hunt for a software package that will do the following:

  • Accident and Incident Reporting
  • Non-conformity, hazard reporting etc
  • A page for entering safety tours
  • Contractor Managerment
  • PPM and Service Schedule Management which generates reminders
  • Allow to assign actions, which sends and email and generates reminders
  • Ability to make it specific to our company
  • Doesn't require an IQ of 250 to use

I am building one using SharePoint, Flow, PowerApps etc but in my own time as a side project at the weekends (something to do until we are allowed out to play again).

I have used a mix of the above in the past, just wondering if anyone had any recommendations from something you have used yourself.

Ta

Morning Mr Brightside

Your posting has been read 59 times but with no response, which perhaps means that the software companies who want your business may be reading but sending you PMs touting their products but that many others are tacity agreeing that you are looking for a Unicorn.

In my experience most of the offerings that are available are created by software developers who have little direct understanding of health and safety issues, but who can produce generic packages that should work for a simple organisation shuffling paper or making widgets.

But, your posting implies that you don't work for a "simple organisation shuffling paper or making widgets" in that you want something bespoke to your organisation.

So, I guess that you could probably find a choice of suppliers who could meet some, or even most, of the bullets in your specification, but few, if any, who would meet the spec in entirety.

So, may be, until you can get out to play again, you should play virtually with your IT team (whether in house or external) to continue to develop solutions that suit YOUR organisation.

thanks 2 users thanked peter gotch for this useful post.

I agree with Peter. If you want a system that does everything to want then the best way is to either code your own, or get someone else to to is for you.

Off-the-shelf pacakges have a lot of bells and whistles (most of which you wont use) and with extra cost here and there you can buy little extensions to mean that you will getsomething in the ballpark of what you want with the technical support.

My last employer just built their own systems for what they wanted and aadapted them to the needs of the business. They did this simply by employing one, then two coders to do so. It meant that what we built was exactly right for our needs, the technical support was on site, andthe plan was to possibly sell it as a software packge to others at some point in the future.

This was easy as it was lead by the MD. But if you can get like minded colleagues in other departments to agree to the idea then the cost would be shared.
