Hi all, just wanting some advice. In a workforce of a couple of hundred employees, a percentage will have some sort of medical issue that may require adjustments, how is this dealt with in your business? Do you do an individual RA for each person to cater for each condition?

An example would be delivery drivers, if a percentage of them note lower back pain on their medicals how do you deal with it?

If a large number of workers have the same "medical condition" it is an indication past/current practices have been unsatisfactory e.g. deafness in mill workers, white finger from drilling, silcosis from mining....

It then follows that if you are only dealing with one or two individuals controls will come from an individual assessment of their particular needs.

If there are trends within a work group then these require investigation to find if it is a common cause e.g. damaged chair in the van versus incorrect choice of vehicle for the task (note the flat platform style adopted by one corporate brown liveried courrier).

Have a robust occupational health program - screening and appropriate (based on role) assessments.

Which include issues such as obesity and general well being all of which ca have an impact on employee performance and in some cases injury....I have many examples...
