Hi - I am looking for help with the HSE Noise Calculator, its driving me batty There are 2 main parts to the calculator for daily exposures - 1. Daily Noise Exposure Action Value - I am fine with this and no how to complete it and what the results mean 2. Daily Noise Exposure Limit Value Calculator - this is confusing, it asks you to list the noise level in dB(A) which are the same values for the previous spreadsheet and you can copy these over, but it then asks for the noise level dB(C) which i thought was just the peak pressure or teh second figure the manufacturer quotes when the issue 2 figures. but reading the notes for the calculator it states "The C-weighted level should not be confused with the Peak C levels which are usually substantially higher than the A-weighted level" my question is - from manufacturers data on a power drill etc how di I know what the C-weighted level should be?

i dont believe you can get this from the manufactures info - yes they will be able to tell you the noise generated by the equipment - but once you start using you will generate extra noise for the task, depending on the material being drilled. The only way to get effective data is to take readings with a correctly callibrated noise meter.
