A member of staff has sent a screen shot of their notification from Track & Trace to self isolate. Isolation period is 15th - 25th (10 days). They were only notified on the 18th so the isolation dates still stand and this would indicate that they were last in contact with the person with the positive case on the 15th.
My question is...
How can this be the case when they flew out of the UK on the 8th & flew back in to the UK on the 18th (to and from a green country)?
How can they be track and traced from another country?

Green country means absolutely nothing.
Airports can have all destinations arriving / departing through their terminals. The airline will have their details as condition of passage / their accomodation will have their details as part of the booking / check-in process.
Sounds like a case has been identified (with someone on the flight, probably with their pre-travel test) in which case the details of all passengers would have been handed over for follow up. They are being tracked as a UK entrant. Strange you are asking some four days after the ioslation period has ended.

Why is it strange that I'm asking 4 days afterwards?? It can’t be anything to do with the outbound flight as the flight was 8 days previous. Plus I would assume the airlines would be aware, had this been the case and restricted any return flights. All that has happened is the person has been track and traced by text message and email 8 days after leaving the UK and essentially 3 days before returning but only (I am assuming here) getting the actual notification upon their return to the UK. What isnt adding up is the time delays between notifications. 8 days after leaving the UK.

The pre-travel test being taken two days before the return flight which depending on the actual local time of departure may end up as three days on the notification. The 15th being the recorded date of positive test.

If they were double jabbed, had a negative PCR test they wouldn't have had to isolate anyway as the rules changed regarding isolation.

I take it the notification was via the app? Then the phone has no idae where it is - just the blue tooth signal from another phone. Passed some one on the street in the airport maybe. When i got my notification i had 5 days to go - my wife only had 3 days on hers.

The concept of double jabbed is interesting given that 700,000 covid passports have had errors - NHS / IT again.
