Electricity exposed wiring in the factory setting

Hello, has anyone any advice please? one of the frontline workers was asked whether they knew that some exposed wiring was 'live' (we don't know what this wiring feeds). Rather than saying they didn't they grabbed hold of the wires and closed their fist. The workers all find this 'funny' (their manager included) and there has been no disciplinary action etc taken. I am now looking for leaning briefs/tool box talks but not finding any suitable (factory environment LV). I'm unable to upload a pic of the wiring! thanks Sammy

As in the central copper cores were exposed or that individual coloured strands were not contained in an enveloping insulating sheath or conduit tubing? What does the fixed wiring inspection report say? Humour is incredibly rare in the modern workplace - discuss it sensitvley with the manager. Sounds as though they are testing the newbie so wanting to discipline & lecture is the start of a slippery slope where you will find yourself working alone.

Don't punish thr "grabber' - get the wiring sorted.
The most worrying thing is the you don't know what the wiring is for. Edited by user 09 September 2021 17:37:56(UTC)

If it was "exposed" ends that were grabbed then a few deductive conclusions: 1) It is not powering anything 2) The other end is not connected to a supply, or it is switched off (and the staff know this) 3) The answer was factually correct

I'm a bit confused by what the question put was. Was it "Did you know that wiring is live?" (implying that the questioner knows that it is live) or was it "Do you know whether that wiring is live?" (with no implication that it is live or not)? Also why would the expected answer be "I don't know"? Why couldn't it be (on whatever basis) "I know it's not live" which is what the action given as an answer suggests?
