Hi,
I am having our new LEV commissioned shortly. Does a thorough examination need to be completed at the same time or is this done at future intervals as dictated by the commissioning report?

The periodic thorough examination checks the equipment is still performing in its designed / installed manner and follows on from an initial commissioning report.

You are going to need a commissioning test, which should form part of the hand over pack, with the instructions for use and maintenance, along with the declaration of conformity for the completed system, as installed and commissioned.

Hi Azza As I understand, the commissioning report occurs first, the thorough examination occurs at the next planned interval (usually 14 months unless otherwise stipulated). HSG 258, para 263: “The LEV commissioning report, together with the user manual (Chapter 9), is the basis of the statutory ‘annual’ thorough examination test.” And also para 299: “ This [Commissioning Report] is produced by the LEV commissioner and contains the key results of the LEV system commissioning. It provides a reference against which to compare regular checks and maintenance and statutory thorough examination and testing (see Chapter 10).” Kind regards Gupps
