A client has a manufacturing unit and approx 75m away he has rented another unit to install new welfare facilities, toilets, kitchen, dining/restroom etc.. as he needs the space in his exiting unit for machinery; Is 75m acceptable. Nothing in the regulations about how far they can be.

Having worked in factories where it has been a 20 minute plus brisk walk 75m is not excessive.

Even the current employers business has a 100m traverse from the end of the unit to the facilities area.

The only niggle I suspect is going to be the weather moving between units and employees (especially office staff) being used to shorter travel. There is a company round the corner from us with a similar (shorter distance) arrangement who seem to have a collection of golf umbrellas at the door for when it is raining.

Hi Bazzer

In construction the rule of thumb is 10 minutes which sometimes might include some of that 10 minutes in a vehicle.

In a fixed setting 75m should be fine except for the mobility impaired.

Thank you all

Ive had a chat with the MD and already mentioned golf umberella, and he said he would provide wet weather clothing if necessary. Also the office section in the existing building has a single unisex toilet which he says they can use if necessary.
