Morning all, I was wondering whether anyone can please advise, as it's quite wooly! The company I work with are a domestic window and door installation company occasionally coming into contact with asbestos material- under soffits etc. When our surveyors attend the dwellings prior to any installation being carried out, if they see potential asbestos we get it tested with our asbestos contractors. 9/10 it comes back as non-licensed asbestos. We have only ever given staff asbestos awareness training, but the Q has been raised that we should be giving them CAT B training- legislation is not clear saying- wee can work up to a set amount of time with awareness training etc. Has anyone thoughts on this? thank you Sammy

Good afternoon Sammy, Asbestos Awareness training is just that. It makes you aware of it, what it is, how it can harm you, in what way etc. It by no means allows you to work with any type of Asbestos, cement or otherwise. Asbestos Cat B training equips you to work with notifiable/non notifiable non licenced asbestos containing materials. See Control of Asbestos regulations 2012 Hope this helps.
