I see IOSH Magazine are touting in their newsletter a publication with the title "Managing Chemical Risk" and subtitle "From Excel To The Cloud".

But you don't manage chemical risk using Excel, or the cloud, or any other form of information technology.

You manage chemical risk by understanding the processes that chemicals are being used in and making sure you have the right chemicals, the right storage conditions, the right equipment and the right practices.

I'm not at all attracted to read what I suspect is an covert advert for some IT system or other.

We have seen IOSH magazine does not do COSHH well. They seem to consistently get the wrong end of the stick, not understand that the core concept is risk assessment  for your work activities not collating SDS sheets (yes the ‘S’ is redundant) and its about processes not substances.

Thing is apart from the advertisers there are very few contributions of meaningful content.

Even news papers are taking so much longer to open on-line due to the sheer quantity of ads & sponsored content they try and push at readers.

Thank you for your comments regarding the e-shot entitled ‘Whitepaper: Managing Chemical Risk’, which was produced by advertiser Eco-Online and sent on its behalf by IOSH Magazine.

The magazine is always keen to receive feedback from members and other OSH professionals regarding content, therefore please contact the editor direct at editorial@ioshmagazine.com.
