I've been asked to review our provision of first aiders and fire wardens including the number required, which is complex from a hybrid working aspect, and if the employer should make any payments to the volunteers. Anyone else looking into this recently?

Yes, we've got two to three times as many in each location.
Plus more frequent checking of attendance logs to ensure that we are achieving the cover level we want.
Plus we defined smaller fire sweep zones, with a physical token system to ensure that every zone is swept once (and only once). Basically, if the alarm goes each warden has a number of zones they might be required to sweep, they visit each in turn and if the token is still hanging on the hook they take the token and sweep the zone, if the token is gone they move onto the next area. Fire wardens gather at teh assembly point and check they have the requisite number of tokens (bwetween 2 and 7 at our various sites).
The tokens are just chunky bright red plastic key-fobs (like hotels used to give you before it was all swipe cards) which have the company logo and name of the zone engraved.
No we don't pay anything exctra to first aiders or fire wardens. I think tehy all do it solely for the joy the role brings them.
