Hi All,

I was hoping someone can give me some advice or point me in the right direction. Part of the organisation I work for are now supplying hydrogen powered welfare vehicles.

We will deliver the vehicles and towable units and leaving on site for an agreed length of time and will need to change the hydrogen tanks either on site of at our base. They will be compressed gas, not liquid.

Are there any specific requirements or training I need to be made aware of prior to us doing this? The quantities we hold and transport will be very small, most articles online are regarding large quantities.

Appreciate any help you can give me, thank you in advance!

When hydrogen gas burns it burns with a flame that is essentially invisible. If you suspect that a hydrogen cylinder is leaking burning gas you are advised to approach it with rolled up newspaper in front of you to check for this invisible flame. The guidance does not recommend  any particular newspaper, so the Sun is as good as the Guardian,  but it does have to be an actual newspaper not something you download onto you phone. Once we have adopted  a hydrogen economy is suspect they will have an app for this.

thanks 2 users thanked A Kurdziel for this useful post.

May I suggest you visit the British Compress Gas Association website.  They have masses of info regarding the handling, storage and use of gases. All publications, guidance etc. notes can be downloaded free of charge.
