I have a someone looking to remove a set of double fire doors in order to create an 'open plan' feel to their showroom area. I understand their reasons for wanting to do this but I'm also hesistant as the doors are obviosuly there by design for compartmentalisation.

The total showroom area is area is approx 200m2, the fire doors create an area of approx 45m2 within that.

Has anyone experienced similar? or any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

You definitely need to carry out a full review of your fire risk assessment and may need building control approval to carry out this work.

As this is a refurbishment activity a proper design consideration should be made.

There have been a lot of changes made to the Building Regulations Approved Document B

For a showroom you want Volume 2
