Hi,

My company has recently taken over from a previous company to fulfil warehouse needs for a customer. Current the warehouse has 35 pallet deep shuttle racking which the have besboke shuttles built to putaway and pick pallets from.

It is not common but every now and then one of the shuttles will power off in the racking whilst the arms are raised holding a pallet. There is a hierarchy of control measures to get the shuttle back up and running but in rare occasions these fail to work resulting in a shuttle being stuck in the racking holding a pallet (around 1000KG) the previous company would go in the racking with a cage and manually lift the pallet from the cage (using a crowbar and wood splints to free the shuttle) to do this they need to exit the cage with fall protection for access.

I have never dealt with this type of racking before so this is new to me, I am making contact with the shuttle manufacturer to see if they have anything which can tow the shuttle out or if there is an over ride switch which will release the lifting arms freeing the pallet from shuttle.

Does anyone have any experience in this type of racking or have encounted this issue in their career?
