Afternoon All,

I am looking to complete the NEBOSH diploma via the NVQ route, has anyone completed via this route and would recommend a provider.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, last time I looked a NEBOSH Diploma is totally different from an NVQ.

A Diploma is a level 6 qualification which you get after completing a “traditional course”  ie teaching followed by assignments and exams. The NVQ approach ( which can be level 6) looks at what you are currently doing and gets you to supply evidence that you have or are doing a job at the level expected. This has been discussed on the forum before: to go down the NVQ route you need to be doing the job at the level already, just without the paper qualification. NVQ is not a taught course as such.

To add to what AK has said, to put together the portfolio needed for an NVQ you might NOT be doing the job to the level but need to be given the opportunity to show that you could.

So, whoever(s) is overseeing the NVQ candidate may need to find ways in which the candidate can stretch their competence but preferably without dropping them in the proverbial!

Sometimes that might mean delegating a task that the supervisor might be able to do in a fraction of the time, so a recognition that investment in staff development has benefits e.g. in retention.
