My Occupational Health provider has recently introduced a fee of £63 for undertaling an audio Triage following the normal hearing test during assessment. I'm quering this as it ends up as the same result as the previous test result, I.E. refer the individual to His / Her GP. Can anyone point me in the rigth direction for any gudance that stipulates the need for audio triage? Many thanks

What is audio triage? I have never heard of it and can't see how a triage system might apply to the results of a health surveillance programme.

Sounds (no pun intended) like someone has identified a way to work once and charge twice. With all our OH hearing tests anything abnormal the employee is referred to seek their own medical advice. Visits are arranged at 6 monthly interval to ensure all employees requiring surveillance can be seen once a year The only change to schedule is where there has been an anomaly e.g. large deposit of earwax instead of following an annual cycle we advise seeking treatment and book them in at the next OH visit
