Hello People are buying equipment run on lithium batteries for example Tuk-tuks and quadbikes and questions are being asked about safe storage of the equipment and how they should be safely charged. The equipment comes with manuals, but I am looking for something independent. I had a look at the HSE website and the only thing I could see is INDG39 which dates back to 2006 and states things’ like “Alkaline rechargeable batteries, such as nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride and lithium ion, are widely used in small items such as laptop computers.” The world has moved on! Is there any other source of upto date information that I could use?

London fire brigade say Lithium Batteries are the fastest growing fire risk in London. I suggest the same applies everywhere else. Most if not all FRS will offer guidance to users.
