Well, I suspect this will be my last post on this forum. My employer has recently undergone a merger, and I have now been told where I sit in the new structure. I (perhaps foolishly) never hid my identity on the forum, which means I can be found easily on Google (other search engines are available), and while the opinions I express are my own and may not reflect my employer's views, the new IT rules I will have to follow mean I cannot post in this way – I may set up an anonymous account but there again I may not. I'm also taking the opportunity to semi-retire – so this may be my last year of IOSH membership after 25 years plus and being Chartered since the introduction of that level in 2003; that will feel strange. Anyone who has read my posts on Blueprint knows my view of IOSH support at the moment, and as my carrier is winding down, I think the membership money is better in my pockets. I hope my 38 years of experience (30 as an inspector) has helped in some small way. I know I have gained a lot from the forums. I cannot mention everyone that's helped, but there are a few that I think consistently show common sense or have expertise in a particular area, so thank you, Peter Gotch, A Kurdziel. Roundtuit, Kate, Chris Packham, Paul Skyrme, Psuedonym, we have had some lively debates both on and off the forum, and while we may not always agree, I respect your view and comments, thank you again. One word of caution to any new members, the title Super User does not mean our comments are more valuable or reliable than anyone else. I have seen people make a single post that has been very helpful, and some on the forum have told me in private messages that they think I'm an idiot – they are entitled to that view. Super User probably means we have had two much time on our hands. Like me, you will learn which members' posts you find valuable. So as my post title states, and as the dolphins said before, the Vogons destroyed the earth to make a pan-galactic super highway – So long, Guys, and thanks for all the fish!

Good luck Brian and hurry back soon.
If iosh dont fix the spell checker it would be hard to spot your reappearance As to the annonimity debate and Orwellian big brother controls my opinions are well known for the reasons you are in the process of experiencing especially the recent disclosures that banks too may monitor social channels.

Thanks for the kind words, Brian - though not sure I deserve them. Hope all works out for you in the end, and that you manage to find to a way to keep posting

Hi Brian Some here will miss you if you disappear up that galactic highway. However, you could ask IOSH to change your login details, possibly so as to not only change your Forum ID but to access the Forums via a private email address. Take care, Peter

Brian, you have made many valuable contributions here and you have a lot of experience that many can benefit from in the future. Please come back even if anonymously as a new instead of super forum user (although you'll always be super in the sense that counts).

Brian, I am sorry to see you go, I always look for your replies and guidance on the various topics because you do make sense to me. I was not aware of your background and experience but now I understand your wealth of knowledge. As for Super Forum User this has been issued to users who had made a required number of posts, and I was the very first. There was a race to see who would be the first and by making many short posts by myself and a few others I managed to get to the tape first. Whatever direction to go from here I wish you a safe and healthy path. Take care of yourself, and thank you.

Don’t forget the white mice commissioned earth 2 as the original hadn’t quite worked out the ultimate question (which I’m sure will pop up on this site eventually) before being destroyed ( Earth that is). So, no reason to leave completely, unless you have just had enough of IOSH, but then there is always the public forum. All the best whatever your decision.

Well thats probably the best reason i have seen to stay - after all - someone needs to look after the fjords , i guess these forums are harmless (mostly) now where did i put my towel? Unfortunately the "register now" does not appear to be working - tried on different computers and different wifi connections thinking it may be my IP address (probably showing my lack of IT knowledge there) but not working - so IOSH may have taken the decision for me.

Brian,
Have you considered joining the Retired Members conglomeration?. IOSH Membership fee for Retired Members is much reduced in price.
