Hi all Just wondering if anyone has any advice on the subject of foam filled tyres vs pneumatic. The equipment is a loading shovel used on construction sites. Operatives have complained that the ride is too hard on foam filled tyres.
I know that there are other factors to take into consideration such as seat adjustment and working platform condition, so this is really focused on the tyres themselves. Any information based on past experience here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is this more a case of the operators can no longer run the tyres soft?
Always been struck by how "deflated" site tyres can appear especially on muddy sites.
Have the correct tyres been chosen, not only for the vehicle but the prevalent conditions rather than cost?

The machines are practically brand new and have been supplied by a reputable manufacturer who have advised that while the foam filled tyres will never give as smooth a ride as air filled, they should be adequate for most ground conditions. The conditions they are mostly used in are flat level working platforms that have been designed for the use of a piling rig.

Why did they opt for foam filled? If it was due to punctures, there are some very effective compound fillers to consider. If they are after softer pressures (softer ride), perhaps a visit and chat at the local refuse site will be helpful.
