I know the regs changed in 2017 but question/poll

Blue - Visitor someone that dosent fall under any other catergory

Black - As a supervisor/inspector

White - As a competent person

Whats peoples thoughts? seeing as we cant wear green anymore. Obvious choice would be blue i suppose but wanted some general consensu.

what regs? may be an industry standared, but as far as i know there are no regulations covering Hard Hat colours.

sorry brian, best practice should have been my chjoice of words, note its a recomendation as its not enforced as such as different work sites can adopt their own colour choice.

i was just asking as to peoples opinions on colour for Safety inspectors, given prior to 2017 the best practice colour was green.

If you are referring to Build UK Black, White, Orange, Blue then "safety inspector" is NOT a supervisor and should not be seen in black. At best it would be white for a level of site management but more appropriately blue to denote the infrequency of visits. IMHO

I'm going to challenge even that assertion - why is it 'best practice' for safety inspectors to have different colour hats?  The pre-2017 build uk scheme was seriously crackers (imo) - let's put people that supposedly have above average safety knowledge in the same colour hats as people with no site experience!

Hard hat colour codes are mostly just an annoyance to me - it means my PPE kit (and that of most of our staff) have to contain multiple hard-hats, because we visit sites with different rules.  The post-2017 suggestions at least scrap most of the variation and we'll probably get away with just two.

I always had whit with various site induction stickers and a first aider sticker on it.
