Greetings from the UK fellow professionals; I have a friend that has being head-hunter for a H & S position in for a Logistic company in a very busy international airport. My friend knows nothing about logistic industry as she was currently working in the Oil & Gas sector for about 5yrs. I will appreciate areas of concentration to narrow things down for the basics in the safety in Logistics for preparation for this interview. Thanks.

Hi Andrew If I was in the interviewing team I would expect the interviewee to have done their homework before attending interview. As this is about thinking about what transferable skills and experience a candidate can take from the sector or sectors they have previously worked in to another sector if that is what they would be doing. So, they need to research the sector which involves both on and OFF site activities - most of the accidents probably happen OFF site......and it is offsite where e.g. a haulage driver is probably at risk of picking up any chronic ill health conditions. So, Department for Transport stats for road traffic accidents, and guidance from RoSPA on road safety issues. ...and for the ON site issues, there is a section on the HSE website specifically directed at Logistics. This Forum is not the place to teach a job searcher about the risks of e.g. loading bays or warehousing. P Edited by user 17 August 2023 11:04:14(UTC)

Thank you Peter, this is very helpful. Maybe i didnt pass my message across properly, but am not looking for a list of risks/hazards. God knows that would be an awfully long list. While research is on-going i just wanted to get some infromation from professionals that are working that sector; at least to compare with what we have and to make sure we have covered tha basics.
