Guidance for gaps running parallel to a wall?

Hello,

Im looking to understand what guidance/british standard there is for gaps that would exist in a construction building that run in line with an internal wall. We have floors where there is a gap of at least 30cm to 45cm with a significat drop and all that is in front of them is a kick plate...struggling to find the relevant guidance?

any ideas? just doesnt feel right...

Is this new build or repurposing / refurbishment of an existing build?

A 30cm to 45cm gap does seem excessivley large especially between adjacent floors in respect of fire stopping unless for example its intended purpose is a light well or similar.

Thanks for reply.

Its a new build, the gap isnt forservices - there is a small 15cm kick plate in front and there is a construction beam below but it does not mitigste the gap at all. Other areas have a handrail in place and others do not, so just looking for the standard prior to discussing further - feels inconsistently applied.

Are these gaps on a means of escape ?

As it is a new build can you contact the Architect/Designer and ask them the question.
