Can anyone offer any clear guidance on your handover processes whereby you are the scaffold contractor working for a client and you have sub-contracted work out to another scaffold company. Who is responsible for the handover to the PC/Client when the scaffold is completed? The scaffold contractor who has sub-contracted the work out or the sub-contractor who has been given the work?

Not highjacking the post but a local facebook story decribed a four level scaffold on the front face of a building, with photo, has been stolen overnight. I wonder where the theives would sit with regard to Health and Safety. Not exactly at work.

Hi Mark Your first posting here, so welcome to the Forums. Looking at this from the Client's perspective, they give a scaffolding contractor and demand a handover certificate. They should reasonably expect that to come from the company to whom they awarded the Contract. So, if that Company then subcontracts the erection, it does not absolve the Contractor from delivering on the Contract specification. Suppose the scaffold collapses. Who is the Client going to be first asking difficult questions? Hence, I would expect that the Company would check that the scaffold as erected meets the contract specifications and then sign the handover certificate.
