Hi, The annual health and safety performance report we currently provide to our Board etc could do with a bit of a refresh in terms of it's format, content and the way the stats are presented as we have been using the same format for years. I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the direction of any that might be good best practice examples or would be willing to send me an example of what you provide (with any sensitive info removed). Many thanks, Colette

There's a free downloadable IOSH Guide Reporting Performance that may give you some ideas - find it via the Books & Resources tab on the home page.

Whenever this question comes up (and it does regularly) my answer is always the same-ask the recipients what they want! Some people like the nitty gritty and they go through the stats and ask question (pertinent and otherwise) others don’t care and just want a general overview. Some people feel that the fact that 90% of people have completed their DSE self-assessment proves that the organisation is really engaged in Health and Safety, others just shrug and say they just want a review of accidents and case studies. There is no point creating something that they don’t want and won’t read. Just don’t write the same report every year and don’t make it look more impressive by using 14 point and double spacing everything (someone one used to do that so as to fill up the 10 page report)
