Hi I help out as a volunteer with a group that runs mental health talking event at schools and for private business do we need to do a risk assessment for all our events or is this down to each location to do it? Edited by user 12 April 2019 16:22:16(UTC)

Both. I would recommend you identify all hazards and assess the risks which are common at all sites and venues from your activities and write down the significant findings creating a tailorable activity RA, which you can then discuss with each venue in turn prior to the event to identify any further hazards which are site specific and can be added to the activity RA. You both have knowledge of your own undertaking which the other has not so you should work together. Creating the first will make the second expeditious. One without the other is not suitable and sufficient. That's the way I would approach it anyway. Regards

In reality the activity you describe is very low risk, so I would not use too many brain cells thinking about the RA. Fire alarm, escape routes, etc, plus any other local issues which might be relevant.

Thanks, everyone I really wanted to make sure I was doing this in the best way and not doing just half a job.
As always I value your input.
