Morning all,

Bit of an odd one but has anyone had any experience with using cat's eyes (the ones they use on the roads) as a method for lining HGV loading bays, walkways and crossings etc.

We have had line painting renewed each year but it fades after a few months or so due to the large amounts of traffic on site and the lovely carbon black which we deal with. We have road sweepers that come in regularly but the lines deteriorate rapidly.

I am looking for a more permanent solution and I wanted to see if there would be any problems from a safety point of view with using cats eyes.

I cannot see any problems myself but I just wanted to gather a second opinion or two from fellow professionals who may have a better insight on this solution.

Many thanks

James

Aaprt from the cost for installing, can't see a real problem, the casings can come in lots of colours.  I use the neon yellow ones to highlight positions for incident investigations.  Light wieght, show up in photos and easy to carry - they're the ones roadworkers stick to the road.  You may want to consider how close they are so they are not too easily covered over by snow, otherwise nice idea.  I might leave the lines down until they fade which will provide a good transition.
