We are considering putting some ventilation fans in our workroom roof, an axial fan type with cowl. However, it struck me that to fit these we would need people to actually go onto the roof with all the cost that would involve in scaffold and edge protection etc etc.  So it struck me that we could vent the roof area with some ducting, a duct fan and pump it out the pine end of the building where we would only need a scissor lift for access. This will also be a benefit come time of servicing /repair etc.

However, have I then created in effect a LEV system and made something that now requires us to pay to have regular thorough inspections as a LEV would require? Also, would this then have to be “Designed” by someone else?

Have you considered a passive ventilation system. You would have to have a design input to get the size right, but such systems are quite effective. I have provided a link below to a system we are currently considering for a major bulding project. It ticks a lot of boxes as it requires little, if any, ongoing maintenance and it is evironmentally friendly etc.........;

(ps, I do not work for the company above nor recieve any commission. I am just a satisfied customer).
