We have just had ur FM 200 gas cylinders replaced after 10 years - should we receive some sort of assurance / certification that they have been correctly replaced

Hi, Any company that is fitting equipment should provide a certificate to state that the work was carried out correctly. Section 6(1) of the HSW Act places a general health and safety obligation on anyone in the supply chain, so far as reasonably practicable, for when articles for use at work are being used, set, cleaned or maintained
So in answer to your question, is Yes, I would be asking. It may be incorporated in the invoice so check with finance.

Having re-read HASAW s.6 several times perhaps you could help identify the exact terminology where such requirement is present remembering should is not the same as will or must.

Maybe, not all companies fitting equipment. Bit hard asking for a certificate for all 200 standard doors being fitted to an office building. but saying that the company would give assurance for the quality and installation of the doors. But we are not talking about doors, we are talking about a pressurized system used in fire suppression, Section 6 like many sections lay out the broad spectrum. The regulations have more detail, off the top of my head, pressure equipment regulations, also state that all installation must be approved i.e. the installer proves to you the user, it's safe.
